The drive, being conducted in observance of the World Day Against Child Labour, forms part of a nationwide campaign that will continue until August 31. The operation was conducted in the presence of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Namchi, with officials from the Labour Department, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Education Department and Namchi Police participating in the exercise. The task force inspected several commercial establishments across Namchi Bazaar to verify compliance with child labour laws. The Labour Department reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children’s rights and urged employers and the public to report any instances of child labour to the concerned authorities. It added that similar enforcement and awareness drives will continue throughout the campaign period to promote a child labour-free Namchi District.
