Congratulating Chanu on her historic achievement, Scindia lauded her determination, discipline and perseverance, describing her success as an inspiration for aspiring athletes across the country, particularly in the Northeast. The Minister also discussed key aspects of elite sports performance with her, including training methods, nutrition, recovery, and the importance of adequate rest and sleep. Highlighting the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region’s (DoNER) vision for nurturing sporting talent, the Minister spoke about the High-Level Task Force (HLTF), which is driving the ‘One State, One Sport’ initiative. Chanu’s trainer, Vijay Sharma, highlighted the immense sporting potential of the Northeast and said such initiatives would play a key role in identifying and nurturing grassroots talent.
