Paxton Investigates Food Makers Over ‘Heart Healthy’ Claims

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has launched an investigation into several major food manufacturers over allegations they may have misled consumers by marketing certain products as “heart healthy.”
As part of the probe, Paxton’s office has issued Civil Investigative Demands seeking records and information from the companies.
As part of the investigation, Paxton has issued Civil Investigative Demands (“CIDs”) to food manufacturers that use the “heart-healthy” label.
Companies under investigation so far include Frito Lay, Flora Food Group, and ACH Foods.
In a statement, Paxton said companies that market food products as healthy must ensure those claims are truthful and comply with Texas law.
