Prashant Kishor, the founder of the Jan Suraaj Party achieved an unbeatable lead during the counting of the Bankipur assembly bypoll in Bihar on Monday, marking a historic victory on his own electoral debut.
After receiving zero in the assembly elections the previous year, a victory would guarantee his party's first-ever seat in the state legislature.
The outcome is probably going to help strategist-turned-leader Kishor establish the Jan Suraaj Party as a rival political force in the state.
With almost 50% of the vote, Prashant Kishor lead both RJD's Rekha Gupta and BJP's Neeraj Kumar Sinha throughout the counting rounds until the 31st.
Kishor reaffirmed that this was not your typical election and referred to it as "the victory of the people of Bankipur."
