The Local Government Association (LGA) Labour group has started the process of selecting new leader. Bev Craig no longer holds the role after being elected as the mayor of Greater Manchester CA on Friday. She had been Labour’s LGA group leader since July 2024. LGA Labour is now gathering nominations to elect its new leader and is yet to publish a timetable setting out when it expects to have completed this process. Martin Angus, political advisor at the LGA Labour group, said: “We are obviously delighted that Bev has been elected Mayor of Greater Manchester and thank her for exceptional leadership of the LGA Labour Group.”
