The roundabout and the A78 flyover have now been completely closed off as 63 weeks of work to revamp the area and bring it down to ground level begin in earnest. Road works began on Monday, July 27, with lane closures introduced on the approach to the Bullring. The Bullring roundabout's car park and the one on Hunters Place have now closed, while parking in Wallace Place has also ceased from today. Pedestrian access through Wallace Place to Clyde Square, the library and the Fire Museum will remain open. Inverclyde Council has encouraged people travelling through the area to plan ahead while the works are carried out.
