Four council members will be selected at the November election in Avon this year, with Mayor Tamra N. Underwood and Council Member Chico Thuon concluding their four-year terms, and Council Members Ruth Stanley and Rich Carroll up for reelection, should they choose to run again. The candidate nomination period begins on Wednesday, and nomination petitions must be filed with the Avon town clerk no later than 5 p.m. Aug. 25. According to Avon Town Code, potential candidates must receive 10 valid signatures from registered voters in the town of Avon in order to appear on the ballot. Council members also receive health insurance benefits and reimbursement of expenses incurred in service of their Town Council duties.
