The fire service were at the scene for two hours and said the blaze was "accidental and believed to have been caused by a disposable BBQ". A fire spokesperson said: "We received a call at 20:11 on Sunday, 02 August to reports of a fire in the open in Prestatyn. Ffrith Park, a touring caravan park in the vicinity, assured guests that the park was not affected and "remains open as normal". A spokesperson for its management team added: "Unfortunately, there was a fire in the sand dunes behind Ffrith Park this evening. "If you're using a BBQ, please do so responsibly, and always dispose of cigarette butts safely to help protect our beautiful surroundings.
