The large-scale artwork has been painted on the sides of the recently installed sports cabins following incidents of graffiti at the site. The project was proposed by local ward councillor and Deputy Leader of Gedling Borough Council, Councillor Jenny Hollingsworth, who is also a member of a local group supporting parks and open spaces in Gedling village. Created by Nottingham-based artist Alex Rubes, the mural has been carefully designed to reflect the identity of Lambley Lane Recreation Ground and the wider area. Councillor Viv McCrossen Portfolio Holder for Climate Change, Parks and Environmental Health, said: “This mural is a fantastic addition to the Lambley Lane Recreation Ground. Not only will it help to discourage further graffiti, it’s created a real sense of identity and pride for the site.
