The Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture, Hon. Dr Sanet Steenkamp, has announced that 28 artists and creative practitioners will benefit from just over N$1,254,000 through the National Arts Fund. Speaking during the announcement of the successful applicants, Steenkamp commended the National Arts Council of Namibia for its commitment to developing the nation’s arts sector, noting that each grant represents an investment in Namibia’s cultural heritage. She emphasized that the government recognizes the creative industries as a vital driver for economic growth, job creation, and entrepreneurship. The total funding covers two cycles following a competitive assessment process, with 25 beneficiaries receiving N$1.12 million in the second cycle and three beneficiaries receiving N$132,066 in the first cycle, supporting the national vision of leveraging creativity for social and economic development.
