News – PlayStation Universe
Racing game BeamNG Drive’s latest update has made it one of the first titles to implement the tone mapping and HDR technology process designed by Polyphony Digital.
As a result, the tone mapping and HDR tech has found its way to BeamNG.drive, as per the game’s official website, where it replaces the previous ACES tone mapper.
Since version 0.39, BeamNG uses a Gran Turismo 7 tone mapping, replacing the previous ACES tone mapper.
BeamNG adds that the Gran Turismo 7 tone mapping eliminates a number of issue that traditional tone mapping has, such as clipped or washed-out headlights, loss of contrast in bright scenes and colour shifting under high intensity.
The soft-body physics bring a level authenticity that other games lack, offering accurate damage models while crashes feel visceral.
