The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has announced plans to host the maiden edition of the Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC 2026), aimed at promoting gender inclusion in security leadership, strengthening collaboration among stakeholders, and recognising individuals who have made outstanding contributions to national security and peacebuilding. She noted that the summit was designed to inspire action by promoting dialogue on evolving security threats, encouraging greater community participation in national security, strengthening partnerships, and advancing gender inclusion in security leadership. She also underscored the critical role of the media in promoting national security through responsible journalism, combating misinformation and fostering peaceful coexistence while safeguarding press freedom.
