The Blue Jays finally ripped the bandage off on Sunday, trading Kevin Gausman to the Chicago Cubs for two prospects. Yet it was just last fall that Gausman was pitching in the World Series for the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays’ shocking fall into mediocrity has left them further from a title than they have been in a long time. Gausman was never guaranteed to be part of the 2027 Blue Jays with his contract set to expire at season’s end.
