A Franco-Swiss team delved into the life inhabiting the gutters of the French capital, with their findings published in the Multidisciplinary Journal of Microbial Ecology on October 13, 2017. The researchers collected water samples from the Seine River, the Ourcq Canal, washing outlets, and gutters across the city. Naturally, this discovery is very recent, and research is ongoing, which means there are more questions than answers at this point.
