Police and paramedics were called to Newstead Road around 4.10pm on Sunday (August 2). An image posted online shows a police car blocking off access to the residential street, while a large police van remains parked within the cordon. The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed one person was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. A spokesperson for NEAS said: "We were called just after 4.10pm yesterday (Sunday, August 2) to a road traffic collision between a car and a child on Newstead Road in Middlesbrough. "We dispatched an ambulance crew and a clinical team leader who treated one patient before conveying to hospital."
