Police and paramedics were called to Newstead Road, at the junction with Byelands Street, just before 4.15pm on Sunday (August 2) following a crash. The vehicle involved had been travelling eastbound on Newstead Road from Clairville Road when the incident took place. Cleveland Police has now confirmed that the child, who is three years old, was left seriously injured following the crash. A 36-year-old woman has been arrested in connection and is being questioned while enquiries continue. A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called just after 4.10pm yesterday (Sunday, August 2) to a road traffic collision between a car and a child on Newstead Road in Middlesbrough.
