Tyrone Winston Ward was due to go on trial at Durham Crown Court today (Monday, August 3) accused of outraging public decency by behaving in an indecent or lewd manner. It was alleged that not only was he bare-foot, but completely naked from the waist down, with only the tails of a shirt covering his private parts. His counsel, Tony Davis, told the court: "Mr Ward is a passive nudist of the bare-footing variety which enables him to have true contact with the earth.” A costs order was also made in favour of the defendant to cover his expenditure bringing the case.
