A new police initiative aims to help domestic abuse victims sooner - but how?

The specialist Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will be stationed in the Force Communication Centre as part of the second phase of "Raneem’s Law," aimed at improving early support for domestic abuse victims.
"The first interaction someone has with us after experiencing domestic abuse can be one of the most important, both practically and emotionally."
The Home Office initiative places domestic abuse specialists within police control rooms across England and Wales to improve early risk identification and victim safeguarding.
Calan DVS is a long-standing charity supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse in South, Mid and West Wales.
Mr Llywelyn said: "This investment represents an important opportunity for partners across the Dyfed-Powys area to further strengthen the support available to victims of domestic abuse.
