Hampshire County Council leader Councillor Nick Adams-King has warned motorists to expect disruption, with the A3057 Romsey Road at Nursling already closed and Bassett Avenue due to shut southbound from Monday. The incident left a number of homes without water, with Southern Water distributing bottled supplies to customers on its emergency priority list. Southern Water has described the repair as complex and said the closure is expected to remain in place until Friday, August 7. A second major traffic disruption begins on Monday, August 3, when Bassett Avenue closes southbound between Chilworth Roundabout and Memorial Roundabout. Keith Jones, who lives near Romsey Road, said the combined impact of the closures would make travelling into Southampton more difficult.
