A rural Aussie council is on track to become the first in the country to trial a four-day work week for its employees.
It's not the first council to make the push, but it could be the first to see workers enjoy a permanent long weekend.
When the trial beings in January, it means most services would shut on Fridays, with workers across council offices, the depot, library as well as work crews having the day off.
RELATEDThe idea of a four day work week has received intense pushback from the business lobby.
Council staff will work their jobs over just four days under the more than year-long trial.
