Network Rail has completed a series of works, allowing direct services to resume between Bristol Parkway and Swindon this morning. The work involved track renewals, repairs, and drainage improvements at the Chipping Sodbury tunnel. Drainage channels have been cleared, and a new lining has been installed in the tunnel to protect the brickwork. Outside the tunnel, embankments have been strengthened with steel soil nails and netting. The improvements will improve resilience against flooding, which has been a huge issue in the area previously.
