Baron Corbin beat Trick Williams on Night 2 of WWE SummerSlam 2026 on Sunday to win the United States Championship. However, the win came after an unhelpful appearance by Trick's friend, Lil Yachty:Corbin took advantage of the distraction to hit Williams with the title belt. During a match between Williams and Carmelo Hayes, Corbin surprisingly showed up and blew up the bout by attacking both Superstars. In the weeks that followed, Corbin took shots at Williams in pre-taped vignettes and discussed his intention to take the United States Championship from him. A U.S. title match between Williams and Corbin was made official for SummerSlam shortly thereafter, giving Corbin a huge opportunity in his first televised match since returning to WWE.
