Richard Tice is under investigation by the parliamentary standards watchdog for allegedly failing to declare an interest.
The standards commissioner, Daniel Greenberg, confirmed on its website that an investigation had been opened into allegations against the Reform UK deputy leader on Tuesday last week.
Mr Tice wrote on X that the earlier claim was "so stupid" that the commissioner had "thrown it out in under 24 hours".
"Richard Tice is now under investigation by the Standards Commissioner, on top of his firm avoiding paying £600,000 in tax.
