A naturally aspirated V8 revs past 9,000 rpm and drives the rear wheels. Named after the legendary Lockheed SR-71 reconnaissance aircraft, the Blackbird is the third hypercar developed by Hennessey after the Venom GT and Venom F5. Power comes from an all-new Ilmor-developed 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 that’s projected to produce between 800 and 850 hp (597-634 kW) while revving beyond 9,000 rpm. Instead, drivers get a large analog tachometer, physical switches, an exposed shift linkage, and even a traditional ignition key. Despite its analog philosophy, Hennessey insists the Blackbird isn’t meant to be a stripped-out track special.
