DFCC Bank PLC has officially completed its acquisition of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Sri Lanka’s wealth and retail banking business, marking a significant consolidation in the local banking sector. To support these new relationships, DFCC Bank successfully onboarded 260 former SCB Sri Lanka employees. DFCC Bank previously stated that the acquisition would be funded entirely through internally generated capital, highlighting a strong financial foundation. While DFCC Bank absorbs the retail and wealth business, Standard Chartered Bank is not exiting the country. The completion of this deal, which received necessary approvals from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, marks a new chapter for DFCC Bank as it celebrates 70 years of operations.
