COLONIE, N.Y. (WNYT) – Colonie police said a resident’s call led officers to a man accused of stealing from unlocked cars in a neighborhood hit by overnight thefts. According to the Colonie Police Department, the arrest happened just after midnight August 2, near Lincoln Avenue in the Village of Colonie after a resident saw a suspect trying to open car doors. Patrol units were nearby, moved into the area and caught the suspect after police said he tried to get away. Officers recovered stolen credit cards and car keys taken from unlocked vehicles in the area, according to police. “Our officers have been out in the neighborhoods all week alerting residents to these overnight thefts.
