Partial payments have started through the Central Mercantile Marine Fund, while authorities stress that those responsible for the vessel remain liable for all outstanding wages and crew welfare obligations.
Ten crew members of MV Berkat Tuah have begun receiving partial payments of their outstanding wages, with disbursements taking place in stages from 28 July 2026, according to the Malaysia Marine Department (MMD).
In addition to the partial wage payments, the assistance also covered logistical costs associated with the repatriation, crew change and deployment of the affected seafarers.
The department said it will continue monitoring developments in the case and undertake the necessary follow-up actions until the rights of all affected crew members have been fully and fairly resolved.
