Firefighters battle to stop power outage in county villages after huge blaze
['Julia Baker']
Hereford Times | News
The fire involved large agricultural buildings on Milton Farm, near Shobdon and Pembridge, and sent thick plumes of smoke across the county, with reports coming in from as far as 30 miles away.
Councillor Roger Phillips has now confirmed that firefighters remained at the scene, and crews had been working particularly hard to protect a nearby power substation.
Crews from across the county, including Ross-on-Wye, were called to the scene at around 10.45pm yesterday evening.
The fire involved large quantities of empty wooden potato boxes, which aided the fire.
Homes and businesses in the surrounding area were also told to keep all windows and doors closed due to smoke.
