A tortoise, believed to be around 50 years old, was spotted on the line at Runcorn on the West Coast Main Line. Station staff from Avanti West Coast and Network Rail quickly paused train services and escorted the animal to safety during a 10-minute rescue operation. "Even our mascot, Turbo, came out of his shell to keep the unexpected visitor company on the journey to a local rescue centre. The tortoise was taken to a local rescue centre, where it was cared for overnight before being reunited with its owner.
