London On The Inside
Discover how children both past and present have been impacted by conflict at The Imperial War MuseumAs more children than ever before are impacted by war, the Imperial War Museum has opened the UK’s first ever exhibition dedicated to documenting how war affects young lives.
You’ll get an insight into the experiences of children from the First World War right up to the present day through interactive exhibits including a WWII evacuee train carriage to recreations of 20th century wartime games and a reconstruction of a Cold War kitchen and living room.
Literature also plays a major focus, showing how iconic authors, from Dame Jacqueline Wilson to Deborah Ellis, have portrayed children’s experiences of war.
Historical stories are presented alongside the contemporary experiences of the 450 million children who are currently living in areas affected by conflict, including Ukraine, Afghanistan and Sudan.
