The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has cautioned the public against engaging with 20 digital loan applications operating without the required licence or authorisation from the central bank.
The Bank of Ghana said the activities of these unlicensed digital credit service providers pose risks to consumers, particularly in areas relating to customer data privacy, consumer protection, and compliance with regulatory standards.
The flagged loan applications include Adamfo Loan, Agyapacredit, Amanti Loan, Arco Cash, Aya Lend, Bucks Now, CediGo, CGrab, DumboCash, FCash, Gh Loans, Gh Loans Pro, Hasty Credit, Newgry Money Tree, Omanpesa, PoPoCedi, Ready Money, Sika Tap, Sikapa Loan, and Zigwe Loan.
The Bank further advised the general public to avoid using unlicensed loan providers, while urging banks, Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions (SDIs), and Payment Service Providers (PSPs) not to facilitate or process transactions on behalf of unauthorised digital credit providers.
Members of the public who become aware of the activities of unlicensed loan providers have been encouraged to report them to the Bank of Ghana through the Fintech and Innovation Department via [email protected] or [email protected].
