The collision happened on the R232 shortly before 3pm on Sunday and involved two vehicles. In an update issued on Sunday evening, An Garda Síochána confirmed that the driver of one of the vehicles, a man aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in her 20s was also taken to hospital with serious injuries. The road has been closed to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have camera footage, including dashcam recordings, from the R232 in the Pettigo area around the time of the crash, to come forward.
