The Sinn Féin representative for Dungannon DEA has been hoping for such a State visit from the new Irish President since last October, when she first asked Council officers to extend a formal invite to the Office of the new President of Ireland. “I had a visit with other Chairs from right across Ireland. We got to visit Dublin and we had an event and an opportunity where we could meet with President Connolly and the Taoiseach and past Taoisigh as well, and I was able to reiterate our invitation to come and visit us in Mid Ulster. “And I quote – ‘yes’ was the reply that we got. So, we very much look forward to getting a firm date for that and getting that organised for what will be a very momentous and enjoyable occasion.”
