He wrote at the time: “I have asked my officials to arrange to meet with Mid Ulster District Council, and have asked that representatives from EA (Education Authority) and the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools are also in attendance. He added: “The Education Authority (EA) confirms that EA continues to work actively with families in the Mid Ulster District Council area to secure placements for pupils for the 2026/27 academic year. “My colleagues in EA Admissions have been engaging with colleagues in the Department of Education’s (DE) School Admissions Team in this regard.” The EA Chief Executive went on to list the 10 Year 8 pupils who, on June 17, still had not been allocated post-primary school places. “Out of the 10 children that they have identified in the whole of the Mid Ulster area, five of those are from the same primary school in Eglish, and there is no transport available from Eglish to Coalisland.
