He has been in custody since he was arrested at his home in Walcott on the afternoon of December 7, 2025. Christopher Brooks was charged following a fire at Walcott in which Robert Button was seriously burned. Mr Button was found with serious burns injuries. He was taken to the N&N where he died the following day with his family by his side. Brooks was originally arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but was charged with murder after Mr Button died, as well as criminal damage in connection with the Nissan truck.
