ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police say a homeowner shot and killed a man who broke into a home on Avery Street on the city’s northwest side on Monday morning. RPD Captain Frank Umbrino says the shooting “appears to be justified” and that the homeowner is cooperating with officers. News10NBC’s photojournalist saw part of Avery Street off Emerson Street shut down as police investigated. He said the homeowner was the victim of several burglaries over the past couple of weeks. Neighbors told Umbrino that they’ve also been victims of recent break-ins.
