ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man is charged with attempted murder after a shooting on Rochester’s northwest side on the Fourth of July that left the victim with life-threatening injuries. Rochester Police say the victim was shot by an ex-boyfriend of a woman who he was friends with. The shooting happened during a large Fourth of July gathering at the corner of Texas and Child streets, near Lyell Avenue. Rochester Police say they arrived around 11:40 p.m. and found the victim in his 20s with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body. In addition to second-degree attempted murder, he’s charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
