United Utilities is set to begin sewer works near number 16 Station Road on Monday, August 3, with the road closed to through traffic while the work is carried out.
Although access will be maintained for residents and businesses, the closure means Lostock Gralam railway station will not be reachable from Manchester Road to the north.
Anyone travelling to the station will need to approach from the south via the A556, using Birches Lane and Lostock Hollow.
A signed diversion will be in place via Manchester Road, Griffiths Road, King Street, Shurlach Road, Birches Lane and Station Road.
Motorists and commuters are being urged to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys while the works are under way.
