From TOLEDO MUSEUM OF ARTThe Toledo Museum of Art will host “Pride Flag Talk with Curator Diane Wright” on Friday, Aug. 14, from 3 – 3:30 p.m. in the Crystal Corridor of the Glass Pavilion. The Pride flag was created in 1978 by artist and activist Gilbert Baker at the request of San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk, who wanted a symbol of pride for the LGBTQIA+ community. A Pride flag is currently on view in the Glass Pavilion’s Crystal Corridor, featuring the original eight stripes. The hand-sewn, hand-dyed version of the Baker flag owned by the museum is extremely light sensitive. In some cases, TMA displays this commercially made version of the Pride flag in order to preserve the original version in the museum collection.
