Review by Felicity WongThe funniest show ever is on at Circa Theatre this month; “A Public Service Announcement” is political satire at its most delicious.
It’s especially recommended for a hilarious outing by government employees, political junkies, or retirees who are deeply familiar with the antics.
There’s six “actor/performers” and each plays a political party leader and a deputy leader, plus the political influencers of media personality John Campbell and Te Pati Māori leader John Tamahere.
Te Pati Maori “Debbie” and “Wi Titi” are the hilarious puppets of party leader “John Tamahere” who makes financial deals while bemoaning oppression and sovereignty.
Is it prescient that the least funny character, because he’s the most suave and commanding character, is “Winston”?
