A disabled railway user has accused Greater Anglia of “ableism” after they “dragged” their “disabled body” over stairs at Stowmarket station, which is owned by Greater Anglia, and criticised the company for delays to the commissioning of lifts. They tagged Greater Anglia and said: “Your brand new lifts at Stowmarket have never been used because they have never been working. In November 2025, NCE reported that Greater Anglia was installing its first modular AVA footbridge at Stowmarket station later that month. A short period of testing was scheduled to follow, and Greater Anglia expected the bridge to open to passengers in early January 2026. “Stowmarket station has never previously had lifts, so once open, they will markedly improve access for everyone using the station.
