Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Flores Regency erupted again on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 5:12 PM WITA.According to a report compiled by Fransiskus Xaverius Masan, an officer at the Lewotobi Laki-laki Volcano Observation Post (PGA), the eruption column was observed reaching 1,000 meters above the summit.A thick, gray ash column was observed moving west and northwest.The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 18.5 millimeters and a duration of 147 seconds.The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) urges residents around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki, as well as visitors and tourists, to avoid activities within a 5-kilometer radius of the eruption center.The public is also asked to remain calm, follow local government directives, and refrain from easily believing information from unconfirmed sources.Furthermore, residents are advised to be aware of the potential for rain-triggered lahar floods in the event of heavy rainfall, especially in rivers that originate at the summit of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.Regions urged to increase vigilance include Dulipali, Padang Pasir, Nobo, Nurabelen, Klatanlo, Hokeng Jaya, Boru, and Nawakote.
