“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” swings into theaters with a new status quo for the titular hero who is one step forward and three steps back. It has been nearly five years since the public has seen Tom Holland’s Spider-Man on the silver screen in 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” This is the driving force of the character arc facing Spider-Man, where his isolation and anxiety are manifesting in unpredictable bodily changes. It is so amazing to see a newer Spider-Man movie that actually looks like a real movie. It would be nice for once to just have a Spider-Man film trust itself to not need to have so much going on and have the title superhero be the only character.
