The Facebook page of Georgian investigative outlet Studio Monitor was removed on Monday, just over a week after the outlet’s YouTube channel was taken down and later restored following an appeal. Speaking to OC Media, Dudunia said the outlet hoped Facebook would restore the page, as YouTube had after reviewing its appeal. The Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics has condemned the removal of Studio Monitor’s Facebook page, describing it as a cyber-attack and expressing solidarity with the outlet. Founded in 2005, Studio Monitor is one of Georgia’s most prominent investigative journalism organisations and has produced hundreds of investigations and in-depth reports. Update, 4 August: Studio Monitor announced later on Monday that its Facebook page had been restored after being unavailable for several hours.
