Last year, we launched our inaugural State of Work Survey. One aspect of work in South Africa we were interested in getting feedback on pertained to tracking of employee productivity via software installed on worker devices. In the 2025 edition of the Survey, we found out that 42.4 percent of employers were implementing some form of monitoring software to measure productivity for those working from home. To that end, 44.3 percent of survey takers confirmed that their employers implement monitoring software in the work environment. Either way, monitoring software is clearly going nowhere, and South African employers are quite happy to make use of it.
