Suffolk police were called to reports of the explosion at 8.45pm on Princes Street on Friday, July 31. Following the explosion tenants in the flats were evacuated as a precaution, with no injuries reported. From Friday evening, into Saturday morning a cordon was put in place, with Queen Street being closed off to cars. Glass could be seen shattered over Princes Street, near Wolsey House, the following morning. At this stage of the investigation, police said they believed that an aerosol can had exploded after being placed on a heat source.
