The supermarket chain has named Barking as one of 30 priority locations across London where it would like to open new stores. Other east London areas listed include South Woodford, Limehouse, Wanstead, Highams Park, and Walthamstow. "Opening new stores in these areas means we can bring great value to more customers, while also creating jobs and offering industry-leading pay." The retailer is seeking freehold, leasehold, or long leasehold sites in prominent locations with good visibility and access. Aldi already has a presence in east London, with stores in Romford, Ilford and Leytonstone.
