Mumbai, Oct 4 (UNI) Shubman Gill has been named India’s new ODI captain, taking over from Rohit Sharma for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. This marks Gill’s first stint as leader of the ODI team, although he has previously captained India in Tests and T20Is. Despite stepping down as captain, Rohit Sharma remains in the ODI squad, returning to the Indian setup alongside veteran batter Virat Kohli. Earlier this year, he was named Test captain, beginning with a 2-2 series draw against England and registering a commanding innings-and-140-run victory over West Indies in his sixth Test in charge. In his ODI career, Gill has played 55 matches, scoring 2,775 runs, including eight centuries.
