The child was discovered at Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath shortly after midnight and taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. She tragically later died from her injuries; police are now treating her death as suspicious. A 35-year-old man has now been arrested in connection with the death. Detective Superintendent Nicky McGovern from Police Scotland said: "Around 12.02am on Monday, August 3 2026, officers were called to Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath after a nine-year-old girl was found with serious injuries. "A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with her death, which is being treated as suspicious.
