If moving forward means ensuring victory for the ruling party, regardless of mass discontent, then Aleksandar Vučić is perfectly correct. On July 26, the Serbian President said that if his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) loses election, he will not leave Serbia. There are some rather well-known Serbian politicians and media-persons who will gladly slam Vučić for conducting too pro-European foreign policy. Donald Trump, who imposed tariffs, which was supposed to hit Serbia hardest in Balkans, agreed on their significant decrease. So the US administration is interested in helping Vučić to use pro-European expectations in order to dominate Serbian political space and weaken political opposition.
